When I make php I get this error:

How can I correct this?

Hi Richard, I found my disk and installed X11. It now works.

I think I must have been too picky when I did the install, definitely not worth saving the 80 or so MB that X11 takes up. It was a bit frustrating that I could not independently install this library, but I’ll settle for this.

More notes on the above:

libXpm seems to be a part of X11 which I will try and install at some point later. Would be nice if I could tell PHP to ignore libX11 because it seems unnecessary.

I tried to download and install libXpm alone but it has some dependencies of its own and I was unable to get it compiled.

I will report back, but if anyone has ideas in the meantime, please let me know.

Hi!

I am trying to compile PHP with GD and followed these instructions.
The configure command fails and produces:

configure: error: libXpm.(a|so) not found.

the last line of config.log had

Any ideas?
